“It’s All Calypso 2008”, musical concert featuring well-known Sri Lankan Calypso band, Chandimal Fernando & the 2 nd connection was held on October 18th 2008 at the Reseda High School auditorium in Reseda CA.  This concert was sponsored, organized and produced by Serendib Foundation for Music &

Performing Arts, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mr. Chandimal Fernando’s musical career. Sri Lankan Consul General in Los Angeles, Mr. Ananda Wickramasinghe graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Favorite Sri Lankan Calypso style songs from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were performed by the band and dance performances were were choreographed by Ms. Maha Afra, Ms. Princy De Silva, Ms. Dinithi Perera, Ms. Janinda Gunawardena, Ms. Rukshani Perera and Dr. Lalani Amaratunge and presented t by members of the local community.

The band comprised of renowned keyboard wizard Mr. Chandimal Fernando, Mr. Chandana Fernando, Mr. Sheridon Kuruppu and Mr, Nalin De Silva. This was a unique concert, band only used keyboards exclusively through out the concert. Prominent community singers, Mr. Athula Siriwardena and Ms. Seetha Shamalie Serenveratna joined the band for several songs. The whole audience danced to the popular Sri Lankan calypso tunes played by the band at the end of the concert

Sri Lankan Day Expo 2010 organized by Sri Lanka Foundation is scheduled to be held at the Santa Monica Promenade on Saturday August 7th 2010.
